The longest winter ever to have taken place in the history of our souls is stubbornly departing and the first flowers of spring are showing their heads. We spent the winter hatching a gallery and it's about to be born. Please welcome gallery b. into your hearts and minds and the neighborhood - Castine, Maine.
I love this place, I did the majority of my growing up here and I returned 5 years ago after living away in California and Canada and etc. for the last 20 years. It is my intention to operate this gallery to not only exhibit exquisite art from all places but also to establish, cultivate and record the great legacy of cultural production that has happened and is happening here in Castine and on the Blue Hill Peninsula.
April and May are the busiest months around here: people planting their gardens, preparing their boats, making their art and launching their galleries. gallery b. will be taking the place of the old Tarratine Gallery. Because I also had a hand in Tarratine Gallery I can fondly bid it adieu while promising that it is likely that the things people loved about Tarratine Gallery will persist in our new iteration.
Out with the old:
And in with the new:
And then came Cullen of Fairwinds Florist in Blue HIll to make the flower boxes sing with beauty:
And Jasper and Ruthie and I hung art and painted and arranged and labeled and arranged and laughed and labeled some more until we were ready to open gallery b. Our Grand Opening Night would follow the next evening.
And Jasper and I take an exhausted launching-our-gallery selfie:
See you tomorrow, May 23, 2014 from 5-7 PM for our opening party!
